Course Description

Prerequisites: AAD 251. The art of Islam in its cultural context, beginning in the seventh century A.D. and terminating in the twentieth century A.D. The development of Islamic art in relation to the Islamic system of life and belief and regional variations in Islamic art, both sacred and secular are explored throughout the eastern Mediterranean, the Medieval West and the Near East. Offered alternate years.
