Topics include European culture and civilization from the Renaissance to World War I; Islamic civilization in Asia and the Middle East; East Asian culture and civilization in the late traditional era; African culture and politics in an era of European hegemony; colonial Latin American and the independent states of the postcolonial era; the U.S. and Canada; Western imperialism and global interactions in the modern era.
